THE NORTHERN BALCONIES OF CANIGÓ
Start this journey in a calm and authentic village. Then, follow the path and already enjoy the smell of garrigue’s aromatic plants.
The walk is soft but engaging and the first viewpoint gives you breathtaking panoramas on the Canigó Mountain. Hills and crests, the Têt valley, and further, the Albères and the Corbières mountain range compose the landscape with the Mediterranean Sea in the background.
The eco-route of the northern balconies of the Canigó, is 68 kilometres between Millas and Prades, lined with viewpoints offering breathtaking views of the sacred mountain of the Catalans.
It is also a local history told in stone that goes back to human origins, peoples and borders. Finally, it is a land where agropastoralism is still present in the midst of a preserved nature.
You will find on this page the 9 loops attached to the main itinerary (4 in Roussillon Conflent, 5 in Conflent Canigou) which will allow you, for a day, to gain altitude and savour the beauties offered by the Northern Balconies!
As this route is little shaded, we recommend the periods from April to June and from September to November.
